She’s no stranger to the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue but Brooklyn has made the switch from glossy pages to the silver screen in Just Go With It.
Who Is Brooklyn Decker
Brooklyn Decker became an all-American modeling sensation when she showed off her athletic figure in a barely there bikini on the cover of 2010’s annual Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, but Andy Roddick’s main squeeze is determined to be more than your average pretty face.
For one, Brooklyn Decker has a ballpark net worth of about $10 million dollars as of 2020. Making her one of the wealthiest models in the world.
Born This Way
Brooklyn Danielle Decker was born far from her namesake in Kettering, Ohio. Her parents were both healthcare professionals and as a child she dreamed of a non-glamorous career as a veterinarian. The family soon relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina where the athletic Decker played soccer and cheered for her beloved Tar Heels. Her shockingly long legs soon got in the way of her aspirations when she was discovered at a mall as a young teenager. Before she had time to put down her soccer ball, Decker was posing as the face of popular prom dress maker Mauri Simone, and in 2003 she won the Model of the Year award at the National Model and Talent Convention.
After earning her high school diploma, Decker decided to ditch the books and pursue modeling full time. Her stunning looks and athletic figure were the talk of the town and it wasn’t long before her face graced the pages of national mags like Seveteen, Elle Girl, Vogue, Glamour and Cosmopolitan. Now a burgeoning success, Decker decided to make the big move to New York City, and within two months she had landed an audition for Sports Illustrated’s highly coveted swimsuit issue.
Despite her newbie status, Decker was selected to follow in Heidi Klum and Elle Macpherson’s footsteps for the 2006 issue, and she followed up in both 2007 and 2008, serving as the host of 2007’s behind the scenes TV special. She kept busy during SI’s off-season, booking gigs in Australia and appearing in high profile campaigns for brands like The Gap and American Eagle.
Victoria’s Secret soon took notice and booked Decker for their equally coveted swimsuit catalog, solidifying Decker as the beach body “it” girl of the moment. In 2010, she reached her biggest milestone yet when she was flown to the Maldives and shot in a sexy yellow bikini as SI’s cover girl. Her bod was soon a national topic of conversation and it wasn’t long before Esquire readers voted her the Sexiest Woman Alive.
Just Going With It
Decker was able to parlay her Sports Illustrated success into an acting career, and in 2009 she landed guest starring roles in shows like Chuck, Ugly Betty and Royal Pains. In early 2011, she made a splash on the big screen when she appeared opposite Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in the hit rom com Just Go With It.
Decker has proven to be just as lucky in love as she’s been in her career. During the 2007 Davis Cup final, the avid sports fan was spotted in the crowd as she cheered on superstar tennis pro Andy Roddick. In 2008, the pair announced they were engaged, and the happy couple married in Austin, Texas the following year. The newlyweds soon, appropriately, decided to make the move to Brooklyn, New York.
Defining Quote “I think my general physical prowess, whether it’s cartwheels or being able to stand in cold water for long periods of time, could only serve me well.”
