Movie Star In The Making
Born David Jude Law in South London to Peter Law and Margaret Hayworth, Jude acted in his first play at the National Youth Music Theater in 1987. He eventually left school at 17 to be in the soap opera Families, and later found successes in the theater and in films.
While finding incredible success professionally in 1997, Law also married his first wife, British actress Sadie Frost, whom he met on the set of Shopping while she was still married to Gary Kemp. Despite the relationship’s dubious beginning, the couple wed in September of that year, following Law’s Tony nomination for Indiscretions, and a year after their son Rafferty was born.
In addition to Law’s growing family with Frost, he was getting bigger and better roles in Hollywood. Starting with Wilde in 1998, Law eventually played Billy Hansen in Clint Eastwood’s Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (1997) and then found the role that would catapult him into a star as Dickie Greenleaf in The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999). The film earned him a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nod.
Welcome To Hollywood
By 2000, Law was getting lauded roles in movies like A.I.: Artificial Intelligence (2001) and Cold Mountain (2003). With these roles though came extended periods of time spent away from his children and Frost, putting a massive strain on their marriage. The couple divorced in October 2003, with Frost blaming many of their problems on her post-natal depression.
Kiss And Tell
After ending his six-year marriage, Law met Sienna Miller on the 2003 set of Alfie and began a very public romance with the beauty. The pair became engaged on Christmas Day 2004, but Miller called the wedding off when the nanny for Law’s children, Daisy Wright, revealed she had been having an affair with him.
After starring in Guy Ritchie’s blockbuster Sherlock Holmes (2009), Law’s next foray into a relationship once again left his personal life plastered in the news. Model Samantha Burke, with whom Law had a fling while shooting Sherlock Holmes, gave birth to Law’s fourth child, Sophia, in 2009 and even sold the first photo to Hello! magazine for $300,000.
When roles in different Broadway plays brought Miller and Law to New York at the same time, rumors flew that the two had started dating again. While stories ran for months in British tabloids and on American blogs, Law and Miller didn’t come forward as a couple again until the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala in May 2010. But the pair didn’t last and they called it quits again in early 2011.
Jude might not have the most savory personal track record, but luckily, he doesn’t let his extracurricular activities get in the way of his impressive acting résumé. And even with his womanizing reputation, this Brit is still a bona fide heartthrob, and has enough charm to keep the ladies and big shot directors, like Guy Ritchie, banging down his door.

What Makes Him So Successful?
Jude Law is one of the hardest working actors in show business. He is successful because he is prepared to keep on working. His roster of films, TV programs and plays shows just how much work he has done over the almost 30 years of his career.
He says that the secret to success is to make sure you have learned the basics of whatever job it is you want to do. Without a solid grounding in the skills needed to do a job properly, then you are going to have to work even harder to catch up. Any fancy stuff can come later. All of that is built on a good, solid base. No-one can build on shifting sands.
Jude also is dismissive of failure although he does know what failure is! He believes that the fear of failure can paralyze some people, but only if they let it happen. Turn fear into ambition, and you will soon feel free to follow your dreams.
Jude also advises against letting worry take up space in your mind. People often worry about things that won’t happen, and this prevents them from succeeding. Worry is draining and saps your energy. Stop worrying and start achieving.
Jude Law is a great example to us all of how hard work can lead to success. He is a skilful actor who is well-trained in the basics needed to be a success in the profession. Dedication to his craft has brought him both popular success and wealth.
