Ray J is the stagename of William Ray Norwood Jr. He is an American actor, entrepreneur, television personality, and most notably singer, songwriter, and rapper. He began his career in 1995 but rose to prominence in October 2002 after having a sex-tape scandal involving American television personality Kim Kardashian. Thanks to this, his fame skyrocketed, he became far more popular and received many more opportunities. Ray J’s most recent television appearance was competing in the nineteenth season of the widely-known reality television show “Celebrity Big Brother”.

Ray J became rich after he left Elektra Records and joined Atlantic. Something that really helped him at the beginning of his career was collaborating with established artists such as Lil Kim, Rodney Jerkins, and The Neptunes for the creation of his next album. His second album called “This Ain’t A Game” was released in June 2001 and it took 18 months to be completed. Also that year, Ray J announced the creation of his own vanity label called Knockout Entertainment.

Ray J became famous after the sex tape with Kim Kardashian but he still made a name for himself long before that happened. He was born on January 17, 1981, in McComb, Mississippi but raised in Carson, California. He is the younger brother of Brandy Norwood, a successful actress, and recording artist, as well as the first cousin of the acclaimed rapper Snoop Dogg. In his early years, around the age of 8, Ray J began appearing in different television commercials. One of his first roles as an actor was in “The Sinbad Show”.

Around 2012, Ray J was reportedly dating the megastar Whitney Houston. The latter passed away in February 2012 after an “accidental drowning”.
